Session Faq
Does Aiki Healing perform massage?
Aiki Healing does not perform massage. All sessions are performed with the client fully clothed. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing.
Aiki Healing sessions combine acupressure and qi gong to restore or improve the body's health. Session work is performed primarily off the body with occasionally light brushing along energetic meridian channels. Energetic meridians are the pathways that flow between internal organs.
How soon will I see improvement?
Generally, clients see improvement within the first session and experience continued healing if they follow the schedule of sessions that the practitioner recommends, and incorporate suggestions for dietary changes and homework exercise such as qi gong.
Depending on the severity of your condition, you may be asked to schedule weekly appointments. Other conditions require only one or two visits to address root causes. It is very individual. The practitioner will share with you at the first appointment what is the recommended number of visits for your particular health condition.
What should I expect after healing sessions or qi gong classes?
It generally takes 24-48 hours for the body to process the experience of a session or classes. However, each person's experience is highly individual. To enhance the healing experience of healing or relaxation sessions, Aiki Healing suggests that clients do the following :
- Drink plenty of water (8-10 glasses each day) to help eliminate toxins from the body and eat lightly.
- Avoid alcoholic beverages, smoking or other toxic substances 24-48 hours after a session.
- Understand that as toxins release, you may feel a variety of physical and emotional sensations.
- Allow yourself quiet time to process the physical and emotional experience of deep session work.
Call if you any questions, concerns, or other feedback about your session experience. Founder Kay Hutchinson encourages all clients to take an active role in their healing and relaxing experience by asking questions and sharing feedback.
Some clients experience what is known as a healing crisis in Chinese medicine when toxins release. During this time, symptoms may appear more pronounced for 24-48 hours, then resolve entirely.
Healing crisis is a positive and desirable aspect of the healing process and is a sign that the body is releasing imbalances at a deep level.
Call 512.468.6588 if you are experiencing a healing crisis, and Aiki Healing can suggest self help acupressure points and dietary strategies to support this process.
What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy involves diffusing the essence of specific oils into the air and using custom herb oil blends on acupressure points to enhance balancing the body's energy. All sessions include aromatherapy unless otherwise requested.
I experienced an improvement in pain so stopped coming after my second appointment. My pain has returned at full level. Why?
The underlying causes of pain often reside in an imbalance with an internal organ. It takes usually 3-5 weekly appointments to shift the energy of internal organs. If you only come to one or two appointments, you will feel better but will not have the opportunity to heal the underlying root of the pain.
Aiki Healing suggests following the schedule of appointments that the practitioner recommends so that you can balance the underlying root causes of your pain as opposed to just improving symptoms.
The practitioner may also suggest follow up work with medical practitioners or chiropractors to enhance the work of Chinese medicine. Aiki Healing emphasizes a complementary approach to health conditions and is committed to working closely with other health providers to coordinate healing efforts for clients.
How is Qi Gong and Acupressure different than acupuncture?
Qi Gong and acupressure do not utilize needles to stimulate acupuncture points. It is non-invasive with work performed primarily off the body.
